Korean celebrities remember Sewol ferry tragedy and victims
A number of celebrities mourned for the Sewol ferry incident and victims.
April 16 is the first anniversary of the tragic disaster. The sinking of the ferry occurred on the morning of April 16 last year, while it was en route from Incheon to Jeju. The Japanese-built South Korean ferry capsized while carrying 476 people, mostly secondary school students from Danwon High School in Ansan. As a result, 304 passengers died in the disaster and approximately 172 survivors were rescued, by private fishing boats and other commercial vessels ironically, instead of South Korean coast guard or ROK Navy ships. 9 are still missing.
Meanwhile, Korean celebrities also joined in mourning for the deceased.

Many celebrities put up a photo or image of a yellow ribbon as their profile picture of online or mobile messengers, SNS channels, etc. The yellow ribbon represents sorrow over the tragic incident. Some stars also posted a commemorating message on their SNS.

In addition, actors Lee Jong-suk and Kim Woo-bin are said to have written a letter to their fans who were students in Danwon High School, touching the hearts of people.
