Lee Jong Seok Confirms Next Project as Korean-Chinese Drama Emerald Jade Lover

It was clearly bound to happen, and now the when and what have been answered. Lee Jong Seok has just confirmed his next acting project, and he becomes the latest in a long string of Korean actors and actresses heading over to China to be a small fish in a much bigger pond. With Lee Jong Seok, he’s already a medium sized fish over in the Chinese pond thanks to popular in China K-dramas like I Hear Your Voice, Dr. Stranger, and Pinocchio.
Lee Jong Seok will be the leading man in upcoming Korean-Chinese drama Emerald Jade Lover, the sister production to Rain’s hit C-drama this summer Diamond Lover. Emerald Jade Lover will be a fantasy period drama set in 1930’s Shanghai, so think the romanticism of the Bund circa famed Shanghai Bund type drama. Emerald Jade Lover will be directed by K-drama PD Jin Hyuk, reuniting him with Lee Jong Seok who he directed in Dr. Stranger. Filming starts in January in Shanghai for a three month shoot.
The production of Emerald Jade Lover has confirmed that the leading lady will be an A-list Chinese actress, which narrows down the possibilities to the handful that have been starring in drama after drama in recent years – namely Tang Yan, Zhao Li Ying, Liu Shi Shi, and Zheng Shuang. Crystal Liu is busy with the movie version of Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles Peach Blossoms, while Yang Mi is going to be doing the drama version of that same story. I doubt movie stalwarts like Bai Bai He, Fan Bing Bing, Sun Li, or Zhao Wei will be lured to do a drama like this, so really it’s the first four ladies I named who have the biggest chance of getting the role. Personally I’d go for Zhao Li Ying, she’s adorable and I can see her shining in an early Republic era period role.

Lee Jong Seok May Be Coming Back to K-dramas with SBS Thriller Remember

Signs are piling on one after another that all point to one thing – Lee Jong Seok is likely coming back with the upcoming SBS Wed-Thurs thriller drama Remember. If it doesn’t pan out then it’ll be due to him turning down the offer, but drama insiders are all saying that he’s the one SBS is courting to headline the drama, which got fast-tracked in production due to Goodbye Mr. Blackfalling off a cliff and the post The Village  time slot needing a drama pronto. Remember is the drama of a genius lawyer with some sort of memory problems who needs to exonerate his falsely accused dad of a crime.
Right now Remember is slated to premiere the first week of December after The Village wraps up its run, and with a very underwhelming first week ratings SBS will be even more keen to get a lead for Remember who has been a ratings guarantee for the network. Lee Jong Seok’s agency said last month in September that he was reviewing scripts and was likely to comeback with a drama soon, and Remember being a SBS drama shortly to start filming makes it the most likely project. Even more interesting are the child actors who have just been cast in the Remember flashback portions all starting to follow Lee Jong Seok on SNS.
I didn’t want to make this just a Lee Jong Seok maybe doing a drama post without any additional goodies. I realized that I’ve had this Esquire Korea spread he did from this past April in my folder and never got around to posting about it, so here’s some oldies but goodies for Jong Seok-ie fans to enjoy!

ZE:A’s Im Siwan Could Replace Lee Jong Suk In ‘One Line’

ZE:A’s Im Siwan may join the cast of “One Line,” in a role that was previously offered to Hallyu star, Lee Jong Suk. While the popular ZE:A star has yet to confirm his role, reports regarding his addition to the cast raises speculation about the highly-anticipated film.

An official attending the 20th Busan International Film Festival discussed the casting, through statements published by TV Report
“Im Siwan is starring as the main character in ‘One Line,’” said an unnamed official for the film, in a quote obtained by TV Report. “In the beginning, Lee Jong Suk showed interest in this project, but the role of the hero eventually went to Im Siwan.”
The article continued with an explanation of the potential casting change. According to the source, Im strongly considered the film, after his successful role in “The Attorney.”
News regarding the role has yet to be confirmed by representatives from Star Empire, the agency which represents Im or Wellmade Yedang, the company that promotes Lee. However, Star Empire issued a statement that addressed Im and his consideration of the role.
“Im Siwan is currently on vacation, as 'Thoughts of Oppa’ has ended its filming,” said a spokesperson for Star Empire.
Star Empire discounted rumors that he had accepted the role while stating that he is considering the project.
Wellmade Yedang did not issue a statement at the time that this article was printed. It remains to be seen as to whether Lee has accepted or declined the role in “One Line.”
On October 7, the Korean outlet TV Report confirmed the casting of the “Misaeng” star in the upcoming crime film.
Several reports published in August 2015, including an English language article onallkpop, announced Lee Jong Suk as the star of the crime noir, but representatives for his agency, Wellmade Yedang confirmed that he was merely considering the project.
“We’re in a situation where there are many details to figure out,” said a spokesperson for Wellmade Yedang, in the translated article published by allkpop. “After those things are figured out, we will decide.”
In the report, representatives for Wellmade Yedang confirmed that the “Pinocchio” star was considering several other projects.
While the casting of Im Siwan may be disappointing for fans of Lee Jong Suk, his role in the upcoming project further solidifies his place as a rising star in Korean entertainment.

“Distressingly, things that I’m not even aware of keep happening,” Lee Jong Suk posted on Instagram.
But the Korean media outlet Korea Times revealed on July 24 that his statement had nothing to do with the relationship rumors but referred to the theft of his personal seal. According to this agency, Wellmade, a man stole the 26-year-old actor’s personal seal.
In Korea, a personal seal or stamp is used as identification and to sign documents. A man, identified as Cho, somehow obtained Lee Jong Suk’s seal. He used the seal to get an exclusive management contract and lure investors into giving him large amounts of money. He then created fake bank accounts in Lee Jong Suk’s name. The theft was reported to the police and a suspect was apprehended.
Wellmade released an official statement to clarify the situation. This is the gist of their official statement, which was published in several newspapers, including The Korea Herald.
“We would like to make a statement about the news of Lee Jong Suk’s identity theft.
As Lee Jong Suk’s management agency, we have confirmed that the perpetrator used Lee Jong Suk’s personal information and forged documents, gathering investors with hundreds of millions of won. As soon as we realized this, we filed a case with the police against the perpetrator for forgery of documents and fraud, and he was arrested on July 22. We plan to follow through with this case to the end without showing leniency.
We hope that something like this will not happen to any other celebrities.”
The model-turned-actor and his agency are planning to take legal action against those involved.

Lee Jong-suk files suit against forger

Actor Lee Jong-suk recently lodged a complaint against a person who allegedly counterfeited his legal seal to draw up a forged contract and open a bank account under his name.

“The suspect has been apprehended,” Well-made Yedang Co., Ltd., Lee’s agency, said Friday via its official press release, adding, “We have discovered he surreptitiously used the actor’s private seal and issued fabricated documents to sign contracts with various companies, to make a profit of hundreds of thousands of won.”

In response, Lee filed a criminal suit, with the suspect captured by police July 22. The company also highlighted that it would “not put up with the illicit use and fraud, and thus would deal with the issue squarely.”

Lee has become an international Hallyu star, following the appearance on TV hit “Pinocchio,” which ran from last November to January.
