Lee Jong Suk may become a free agent if he does not renew his exclusive contract with Wellmade Yedang, which will conclude in January 2016.
On December 9, the Korean outlet My Daily published a report about his contract renewal and included speculative points about whether the 26-year-old star will remain with his current management.
“According to officials, Lee Jong Suk’s exclusive contract with Wellmade Yedang ends next month,” said the My Daily reporter. “Lee Jong Suk is known to be struggling with whether to continue the current contract.”
The article went on to illustrate the significance of his contract negotiations and the career trajectory of the rising actor.
Speculation continues to rise as to whether he will seek other management as he is no longer considered a fashion model who is an intrepid actor.
He is now widely recognized for his dramatic portrayal of characters like Park Soo Ha in “I Can Hear Your Voice.”
Lee debuted in 2010 with a supporting role in the SBS drama, “Prosecutor Princess,” followed by his turn as Han Tae Sun, a singer-songwriter in the supernatural series, “Secret Garden.”
His popularity increased following his appearance in the family ensemble series, “High Kick: Revenge of the Short Legged,” but his portrayal Go Nam Soon opposite Kim Woo Bin in “School 2013,” served as his breakout role.
He followed with other pivotal roles in the 2014 medical series, “Doctor Stranger” and the 2014 romantic drama, “Pinocchio,” which is notable for the believable on-screen romance with Park Shin Hye.
On December 8, he was appointed as the ambassador for the 2015 Cultural Festival, an event which is taking place in Chongqing.
The eight-day festival which is jointly organized by the Korean Creative Content Agency and Chongqing Municipal Cultural Industry will be punctuated by a K-pop Showcase on December 12, featuring VIXX, High4, and the KOXX.
