If you’ve been keeping up, you may remember that Lee Jong Suk recently
spoke out on Instagram stating, “Distressingly, things that I’m not even aware of keep happening.”
It was presumed that the actor was referring to his dating rumors with Park Shin Hye, but with the latest information revealed, it seems that he had been referring to something else going on.
His agency Wellmade Yedang revealed that Lee Jong Suk had recently been a victim of identity theft. His personal information had been stolen and his personal seal or stamp, often used to authorize documents in Korea, had been faked by someone in a case of fraud. The perpetrator is actually said to be someone well connected in the entertainment field, and this person faked Lee Jong Suk’s personal stamp to draft up an exclusive management contract. In addition he was even able to start fake bank accounts under Lee Jong Suk’s name.
The actor recently learned of this and has reported the perpetrator to the police. His agency commented, “We have learned that the perpetrator used the actor’s personal information to create a fake contract, as well as brought in investments using the actor’s name. Once we learned of this, we immediately reported this to the police, and the perpetrator is being held at the police station.”
The agency has revealed that they will be pursuing strong legal action to make sure something like this doesn’t happen again to just Lee Jong Suk, but to other celebrities as well.
