Park Shin Hye And Lee Jong Suk Worked Together Twice Before ‘Pinocchio’

Drama lovers think of Park Shin Hye and Lee Jong Suk as the actors who became a couple in the drama “Pinocchio.” But the actors’ friendship started before that. They actually worked together twice before the drama. The first time they met was to work on an advertising campaign for the fashion brand Millet.

“We first met for a promotional shoot of a fashion brand in 2013,” said Park Shin Hye in an interview in the April edition of InStyle magazine. “At the time Jong Suk was filming “I Hear Your Voice.”

Lee Jong Suk noticed then that Park Shin Hye was a skilled model.

"I remember Shin Hye pulled cool poses," he said.

But she worried that she would not look good standing next to him as she had a tan and he was pale. Dressed in the brand’s sporty clothes, they made a wholesome couple, photogenic enough to attract the attention of casting directors.

Six months later the actors met for another photo shoot and a televised interview. Lee Jong Suk was shy about the idea of doing a televised interview but having Park Shin Hye by his side made him feel secure. She noticed how shy he was.

"Jong Suk is surprisingly shy and withdrawn. But he’s also very sweet," she said.

Then they were paired up for the drama “Pinocchio.” Having previous experience working together made it easy for them to develop a sweet onscreen camaraderie.

She played Choi In Ha, a woman with Pinocchio syndrome, which meant she could not tell a lie without hiccupping. He played Choi Dal Po, her adopted brother. He needed to find out the truth behind the lies that ruined his real family. The characters grew up together, were friends and fell in love. They were so considerate and supportive of each other that viewers cared about their relationship. The drama was a success. At the SBS Drama Awards, the show earned seven awards, including the Best Couple Award for Park Shin Hye and Lee Jong Suk.

The actors also became better friends while filming together. At the Drama Awards Lee Jong Suk was asked if he and Park Shin Hye were affectionate even when the cameras were not rolling.

"Yes," he said.

So it’s interesting that before the drama began Park was not sure that she and Lee Jong Suk would make a believable couple. She still wondered whether they would look good together.

"Jong Suk is good looking, but people said we wouldn’t complement each other," said Park. "Perhaps we suited each other more than was expected."

How Park Shin-hye and Lee Jong-suk first met

Actors Park Shin-hye and Lee Jong-suk, the much-adored couple of hit drama series “Pinocchio,” told fashion magazine InStyle Korea how they first met.

"We first met for a promotional shoot of a fashion brand in 2013," said Park Shin-hye in the magazine’s April issue. "At the time, Jong-suk was filming (drama series) ‘I Can Hear Your Voice.’"

The actress said she was “a little worried” at the first meeting, because he had a pale complexion while she was a little tanned at the time.

"I remember Shin-hye pulled cool poses (for the photo shoot)," said Lee. 

The two actors were soon reunited for a follow-up photo shoot six months later, during which they took part in a televised interview for a celebrity show.

"I find it difficult to do video interviews, but I felt secure with Shin-hye by my side," said Lee of their growing friendship.

"I noticed Jong-suk is surprisingly shy and withdrawn. But he’s also very sweet," said the 25-year-old actress. 

But when the actors were paired as a couple for “Pinocchio,” which kicked off in mid-November last year, Park worried they wouldn’t suit each other on screen.

"Jong-suk is good-looking, but people said we wouldn’t complement each other (as a couple), maybe because my double eyelid folds are thick and I have big eyes," said Park, who previously won plaudits in 2013 high school drama "The Heirs" opposite actor Lee Min-ho.

Those remarks soon subsided, however, as soon as the drama series took to the air.

"Perhaps we suited each other more than was expected," said Park.

Lee, also 25, was less concerned, saying he trusted Director Jo Soo-won’s casting choices. 

The two actors, who have since “Pinocchio” met for joint commercial projects including a campaign for outdoor clothing brand Millet, heaped glowing praise on each other.

Park complemented Lee’s “warm gaze,” while Lee said that Park lifted up the spirits of the mostly male crew members.

Park spoke affectionately of other costars, such as actress Lee Yu-bi and actor Kim Young-kwang, who played fellow reporters.

"Pinocchio," which concluded in mid-January, gained an international cult following and loyal fan base during its three-month run. The series won seven SBS Drama awards last year, hosted by its broadcaster SBS, including the Best Couple Award.

Meeting each other in London, Park Shin Hye and Lee Jong Suk shot a warm and cozy pictorial for star & fashion magazine, InStyle.

InStyle recently revealed what Park Shin Hye and Lee Jong Suk were doing in London. Despite it being awhile since SBS′ Pinocchio ended, the two actors still appeared as close as ever, creating beautiful photos. 

During the interview, the two addresssed their intimiate kiss scenes in Pinocchio.

"The director had a very pretty image in his head, so we just went for it as it was written in the script," explained Lee Jong Suk. "I still listen to the OST even though the drama is over, and whenever I listen to the song, it′s such a beautiful scene that I can still see it vividly in my head."

Park Shin Hye agreed, saying, “I think a great kiss scene came out because everything was organized with much detail, including the direction of the hands.” 

Talking about acting, Lee Jong Suk showed his passion for wanting to continue improving in acting. “That′s why I′m the type to persistently push myself when it comes to acting.”

Park Shin Hye shared about all the luck she′s had with her projects and co-stars. “Through my projects, I think I met all the male actors in their 20s.”

In this short 15-second teaser, Lee Jong Suk is seen looking suave, posing for the camera in an array of outfits. At the end, he chicly walks on screen to sit on a stool in front of a white canvas, making fans wonder what he has in store for them.

Recently, he has been busy doing various projects, including a casual LA pictorial for Marie Claire and reuniting with Park Shin Hye for the latest Millet CF.

The final mysterious project will be released on March 28th.

Lee Jong-suk meets fans in Taiwan

Actor Lee Jong-suk flew to Taiwan to meet his fans on Friday, bringing the airport to a standstill as a massive crowd flocked there to greet him, according to local media outlets.

Lee’s visit to the nation hit the headlines in major newspapers as his drama “Pinocchio,” which ended in January, was well-received in the nation.

On Saturday, the 25-year-old actor met with local reporters at the press briefing before the fan meeting at the Taipei International Convention Center.

During the press conference, he surprised media and his fans, saying, “I love you,” “I am hungry” and “I am happy” in Taiwanese.

He also jokingly revealed his relationship with K-pop girl group Girls Generation, saying, “I know they are also here in Taiwan. We just sent our greetings via text messages.”

On the same day afternoon, Lee met with his 2,500 local fans and spent over two hours with them at the TICC.

Lee Jong Suk Heats Up Taiwan by Gathering Over 3,000 Fans

Lee Jong Suk took the hearts of 3,000 fans in Taiwan.

Lee Jong Suk filled the 3,000 seats in Taiwan’s TICC (Taipei International Convention Center) for the fan meeting 2015 Asia Tour in Taiwan, which took place on March 21.

Lee Jong Suk caught attention by gathering a large crowd of fans and reporters as soon as he arrived in Taiwan on March 20 and he proved his titles as the ‘rising hallyu star’ and ‘god of Asia’ during his 72-hour visit in the country.

The tickets for the fan meeting sold out as soon as it was announced that Lee Jong Suk, who starred in SBS’ I Hear Your Voice, Doctor Strangerand Pinocchio, was heading to Taiwan and the fans lined up to purchase Lee Jong Suk’s goods before the event began 

The press conference gathered reporters from some of the major media outlets in Taiwan and during the event, Lee Jong Suk touched the fans’ hearts by greeting them in Taiwanese.

On the night of the fan meeting, the fans filled the seats at TICC and Lee Jong Suk tried to capture each and every fan with his eyes. When the famous scenes and lines from his dramas came out, the fans focused on his acting in silence and cheered out loud.

Lee Jong Suk not only showed simple fan service during 90 minutes, but he also spotlighted his qualities as a star and a talented actor, raising anticipation for this next project.

Having heat up the night in Taiwan, Lee Jong Suk will be continuing his Asia tour in Shanghai on March 28.

Fashion magazine InStyle revealed additional photos of top celebrities Lee Jong-suk and Park Shin-hye taken in London on Monday.

In the revealed shots, the two stars, like a real couple, strike more erotic poses than the photos released last week. Park and Lee wear Dr. Martens’ new spring sandals. 

In the single shot, the 25-year-old actress dons a long black skirt, with Dr. Clarissa Flower sandals while Lee sports a lime shirt over black plants with Gryphon Black sandals. 

This is the first time the stars have worked together since they starred in the hit drama “Pinocchio,” which ended in January.

He successfully finished his fan meeting, ‘2015 Asian Tour in Taiwan’, which was held on Saturday, March 21 at TICC(Taipei International Convention Center) of Taiwan. He had a packed house of 3,000 local fans.

Lee Jong-suk’s arrival in Taiwan has created a sensation. When he arrived in the Taipei International airport on Friday, March 20, he was welcomed by local fans waiting for him, which paralyzed airport traffic and made the headlines. It was then followed by a press conference, which was crowded with 3,000 fans.

The tickets of the fan meeting were sold out in advance, upon the news that Lee Jong-suk, actor who starred in popular television series ‘Doctor Stranger’ and ‘I Hear Your Voice’, was scheduled to visit Taiwan. This was a remarkable sensation, since his recent television series ‘Pinocchio’ has not aired officially in Taiwan yet. On the fan meeting day, the venue was crowded with fans who have gathered to buy promotional products of Lee Jong-suk.

A lot of local media showed huge interest on Lee Jong-suk. Apple Daily, China Times, UDN, Liberty Times and more attended the conference to interview the Korean actor. In appreciation of all the support and interest he has received, Lee Jong-suk expressed his gratitude in Taiwanese.

When highlights from his television drams were played on the screen, the fans were speechless, amazed, moved, and in joy. The language, or nationality barriers did not seem to matter.

Park Shin Hye and Lee Jong Suk were in London last week to shoot a fashion spread and provide an interview to InStyle Korea magazine. On March 18 the magazine released some of the photos and a few snippets of interview to whet readers' appetites     

Lee Jong Suk's photos feature classic sporty clothes, while Park Shin Hye's shots are alluring. One of the interesting things about seeing Park Shin Hye in person is that she's more sophisticated and glamorous than some of her drama roles might lead you to suspect. She usually plays characters that don't place a high priority on style.  She pretended to be a boy in "You're Beautiful" and she was a recluse who slept in her clothes in "Flower Boys Next Door."

The magazine's photos show her looking stunningly sexy in smoky eyeliner, thigh-high suede boots and hot pants.

During an interview for the magazine the actors discussed one of their kiss scenes in "Pinocchio." They spoke about the director's attention to detail, such as exactly where Park had to place her hand during the "covered mouth kiss." In that scene Lee Jong Suk's character kissed the palm of her hand as she tried to cover her mouth. Park Shin Hye's character could not tell a lie without violently hiccupping and she did not want to pretend not to like him, as she would hiccup and be caught in her lie.

The director's attention to detail made it a hard scene to forget, both for viewers and the actors who starred in it.

"Even after the series ended, I still listen to the soundtrack for that scene," said Lee Jong Suk.

Lee Jong Suk also shared some details about his personality, namely that he is highly self-motivated even describing himself as driven.

After the shoot Park Shin Hye left London to participate in a promotional event for Bruno Magli in Japan.

The actress is also known for her roles in "Heartstrings," and her appearances in the film "Miracle in Cell 7" and "The Royal Tailors."

Lee Jong Suk is known for his drama roles in "Secret Garden," "School 2013," "I Hear Your Voice" and "Doctor Stranger.

Hot Korean actors to watch out for in 2015

Hottest new Korean actors such as Kim Soo-hyun, Kim Woo-bin, Song Joong-gi, Lee Jong-seok are all taking some time off from acting now.
However, there is heightened anticipation for new dramas and movies after the recent reveal that these actors are candidate for the lead role.

Kim Soo Hyun is currently considering his next drama project, lead role in the upcoming KBS drama “The Producer.” and lead role in a supernatural MBC drama titled “Night Strolling Scholar.”
It has been sometime since his mega hit drama “My Love From The Stars,” ended so fans have been anticipating his next project.
However, Kim Soo-hyun agency Keyeast Entertainment hasn’t confirmed whether Kim would take the role or not.

Kim Woo Bin has officially been offered the leading roles in the upcoming Hong Sisters drama, tentatively titled Jeju Gatsby. 
If Kim Woo Bin accepts, it would be his first full-length drama since Heirs in 2013. Since that time, he has acted in three movies (Friend 2, The Technicians, and the upcoming Twenty), and he had a cameo in the fun web series Love Cells.
The Hong Sisters, known for writing quirky romantic favorites like The Master’s Sun, My Girlfriend Is a Gumiho, You’re Beautiful, and Greatest Love, have only stated so far that the upcoming series will be a romance set on Jeju Island. 

Lee jong seok’s past dramas including “Pinocchio.” “School 2013,” “I Can Hear Your Voice,” and “Doctor Stranger” have yielded positive ratings making him a desirable star in the Asian market.
According to Sports World, a source within his agency thinks that Lee may be interested in Chinese dramas. 
In the Sports World report, the source stated, “Lee Jong Suk has recently received many offers of work in Korea and China.”
The source went on to explain that interest in the actor has greatly increased in China, where he is currently receiving offers for movies, dramas, endorsements, and fan meetings.

Song Joong ki (Nice Guy, Wolf Boy) will be out of the army on may 26th, 2015 and is already looking at projects to return to drama scene.
He’s reportedly been offered the leading role in Kim Eun-sook’s newest drama ‘Descended From the Sun’, her first non-SBS show, to be directed by PD Lee Eung-bok of Secret and co-written by Kim Won-seok (Queen’s Classroom).

Among even the hottest new stars, fans are most curious about Won Bin’s next project.
He has yet to announce his comeback project. His last work was the 2010 blockbuster hit film “The Man from Nowhere.”

Lee Jong-suk Reveals Pictorial Shoots for Fashion Magazine ‘Marie Claire’

Actor Lee Jong-suk took pictorial shoots for a fashion magazine ‘Marie Claire’.

After wrapping up his busy drama schedules, he showed off his mature charms with pictorial shoots taken with ‘Maire Clare’ in L.A.

He posed naturally with composure as if he was enjoying a vacation. He gazed a a camera with casual and carefree looks and showed off his attractiveness as model-turned-actor.

During the interview which went along with the pictorial shoot, he said “I experienced  slump due to continuous stints. However, I regained my energy to concentrate in drama after <Pinocchio>”

He continued, “I feel like acting is even harder than when I first started it. I am trying my best to show more improved acting.”

Meanwhile, Lee Jong-suk will hold Asia tour fan meeting in Taiwan on March 2 and Shanghai on the 28th.

KBS’ “School 2013” Sequel to Air after Completion of “Blood”

KBS‘ continuation of the popular “School” drama series will be airing after the completion of “Blood.”

An associate from KBS told the media on March 2 that “Who Are You – School 2015” (working title) has been scheduled for the Monday-Tuesday evening drama slot, after “Blood” finishes airing. “Hello Monster,” which was rumored to be the followup to “Blood,” will air after “Who Are You.”

Like its predecessors, “Who Are You” will be a school drama, set in 2015. It will be a collaboration between screenwriter Kim Hyun Jung, known for writing special miniseries “Their Perfect Day,” and Kim Min Jung, who won an award at the 2012 KBS scenario award.

The casting for the drama is said to be in the process, with both new faces and known actors being considered.

The previous dramas of the “School” series have paved the way for many popular stars, such as Jang Hyuk, Ha Ji Won, Jo In Sung, Yang Dong Geun,Lee Jong Suk, and Kim Woo Bin.

Lee Jong-suk, “Healed through ‘Pinocchio’”

Lee Jong-suk, who has proven himself as an actor equipped with both popularity and acting abilities, stood in front of camera for fashion magazine, “Marie Claire”.

After completing all the schedules related to his drama, Lee Jong-suk took part in the pictorial shooting session in Los Angeles, US. In the pictorial, he presents a casual and natural style delivering the relaxed mood of the travel during his break away from work.

His flawless body and natural poses as a model originally are well harmonized with the facial expressions as an actor.

During the following interview, Lee Jong-suk said, although he had experienced slump due to the continuous projects, he could get over it thanks to the healing effect he had experienced through the drama"Pinocchio". He also said he found acting more difficult than the time he had started and was and he’s contemplating on how to bring up his acting to the next level.

Lee Jong-suk, Park Shin-hye star in Millet TV commercial

Millet is creating a buzz with its spring-summer commercial starring “Pinocchio” stars Lee Jong-suk and Park Shin-hye.

The French outdoor clothing company released the “Millet Style” advert online Thursday, which was partly shot in sunny Thailand early last month.

The background song by musician DJ Juice and rapper Minos, which follows “Everyday is a photo shoot, wherever I go it suits me — that’s Millet style,” is also attracting attention.

Lee and Park won praise in the hit romantic drama series “Pinocchio,” a story about an aspiring reporter with an innate inability to lie, played by Park. The SBS series concluded on Jan. 15
