Park Shin Hye’s Unfinished ‘Pinocchio’, and Lee Jong Suk

“Lee Jong Sukkie wore a wig and portrayed the role of Dalpo, but that appearance looked so funny. HAHAHA!!”
Actress Park Shin Hye burst into laughter as if she still remembered that time vividly. As soon as she remembered the time when Lee Jong Suk wore a ugly wig and acted as Dalpo in the SBS Wed-Thurs Drama ‘Pinocchio’, she laughed again as if the word wig was a stimulus for her to start laughing. She said that on one occasion, she was watching the ‘Dalpo Clip’ and she didn’t notice that Lee Jong Sukkie was right behind her and she yelled, “AW~THIS IS SO FUNNY!” She got scolded by Jong Sukkie after that. She said that she almost died trying to comfort hurt Lee Jong Sukkie who was really mad. Lee Jong Sukkie said to her, “You insulted me.” She proudly boasted her heart-warming friendship consisting of a lot of bickering with Lee Jong Suk.
  • “Lee Jong Suk, He Has A Lot Of Aegyo So That Makes Him A More Lovable Friend”
It seems that she starts to laugh whenever she remembers Lee Jong Suk. You could see that they were trying to keep a distance between each other’s hearts since they were leaving an intimate relationship they had because of work and now they were becoming closer to each other as close friends instead.
“He is a really lovely friend. He also has a lot of aegyo. ‘The Filming Set’s Flower’ title is usually given to a female actress, but this time, should I say that I was stolen the title by Lee Jong Sukkie? This is really the first time I lost the title to a male actor. I really don’t know where he got his aegyo from. When I asked him, he answered that it was a ‘Tactic To Survive and Live’. HAHAHA. He is a friend who has a lot of loveliness imbedded in his body.”
She co-starred with a lot of male actors in their 20s such as Lee Min Ho, Kim Woo Bin, and Jang Geun Suk as well as Lee Jong Suk. We asked her what was different about Lee Jong Suk and she answered, ‘Warmth’.
“While we had a conversation and rehearsal with each other, I felt, ‘Ah, He is a friend who has so much warmth in his eyes.’ His eyes were different from the eyes of those actors who had a cool and masculine image. The harmony between me and him during acting was really good and we matched well. Thanks to him, I was able to laugh a lot while acting.”
Even at a single glance, you can see that these two people were really close to each other. Therefore, we asked if they felt awkward while acting the many love scenes in ‘Pinocchio’. Then, Park Shin Hye revealed the story behind the toast love scene to answer this question.
‘It was during the start of filming ‘Pinocchio’, so this was before we became close to each other. However, we had to film that love scene as the first scene for that morning. We thought that we just had to film with a sweet atmosphere and act the scene, but the director kept on saying, ‘Have you guys never dated before?’ and made us act sweetly. Since we were filming that scene in front of everyone looking at us, do you know how much we wanted to gag? Then, when I looked at the lighting team oppa-deul, they must have been more immersed into our roles more than us because they started to make chewing movements with their mouth. I started to bluntly say, ‘Oppa-deul, why are you making chewing movements?’ HAHAHA!”
  • ‘Pinocchio’, A Story That Is Not Over Yet
‘Pinocchio’ means much more than just a drama to Park Shin Hye. Inha’s growth throughout the drama reminded Park Shin Hye of herself. Park Shin Hye stated that her feelings are exactly the same as Inha because everything Inha felt in the drama was what Park Shin Hye felt during her career.
“‘Pinocchio’ is a drama that I have not finished yet. The feeling of emptiness Inha felt sometimes in the drama is what I am feeling right now. But, this is an issue I have to go through sooner or later.”
There are a lot of similarities between Inha and Park Shin Hye. This was why Park Shin Hye was able to comfortably be immersed into the role of Inha.
“Inha’s blunt speech and straightforward personality are really like me. HAHAHA!! I like to laugh loudly which is like Inha. I feel so refreshed that I was able to portray a character who was like me and act a role that I wanted to do.”
